Dr Graeme Walker

Dr Graeme Walker is a skilled gynaecologist with over 20 years of experience in the field. He is currently based in Southport, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Dr Walker is a male practitioner who speaks English and French.

Dr Walker obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB CHB) from Edinburgh University in 1996. He then underwent comprehensive training in obstetrics and gynaecology, earning his membership to the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists in 2001. In recognition of his exceptional performance, Dr Walker graduated as the top performer worldwide in the membership exam and was awarded the gold medal.

After his initial training, Dr Walker pursued further specialization in gynaecology. He completed a three-year fellowship in 2007, further honing his expertise in the field. In 2008, he moved to Australia to undertake a one-year fellowship at the Royal Women's and Mater Hospitals in Brisbane, focusing on gynaecology and laparoscopic surgery.

In 2009, Dr Walker returned to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Hospital as a consultant in gynaecology. Here, he achieved a significant milestone by performing the first-ever total laparoscopic hysterectomy in Edinburgh. He has since dedicated his time to teaching this technique to other consultants in the UK and overseas.

Dr Walker's areas of special interest and expertise include general gynaecology, gynaecological cancer, laparoscopic/minimal access surgery, and colposcopy. In 2014, he migrated to the Gold Coast and assumed the role of Clinical Lead for gynaecology within the Lothian public healthcare system (NHS).

Maintaining a commitment to delivering a gold standard of evidence-based care, Dr Walker believes that patient wellbeing is a 24-hour concern. He ensures his availability for emergency situations and complications. Currently, he serves as the Director of Gynaecology at Gold Coast University Hospitals, where he operates both privately and publicly at Gold Coast Private Hospital.
