Dr Andrew Oar

Dr. Andrew Oar is a greatly respected radiation oncologist based in Southport, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. He specialises in the treatment of cancer using radiation therapy. Dr. Oar currently practices at the Icon Cancer Centre Gold Coast, which is affiliated with the Gold Coast Private Hospital.

Dr. Oar completed his postgraduate medical training at the University of Queensland in 2010. In addition to his medical degree (MBBS), he also holds a Masters of International Public Health (MIPH) degree earned in 2011. Dr. Oar trained extensively at Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals in Sydney, where he underwent a fellowship program focusing on lung and gastrointestinal cancer, as well as stereotactic radiation therapy.

Currently, Dr. Oar holds the position of clinical research lead at the Icon Cancer Centre Gold Coast. He actively participates in several clinical trials and is the principal investigator of the MASTERPLAN trial. This national randomized clinical trial, conducted by the Australasian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG), investigates the effects of combining stereotactic radiation therapy with chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer treatment.

Dr. Oar is an executive member of the Asia Pacific Radiation Oncology Special Interest Group (APROSIG). He also serves as a conjoint lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the University of Western Sydney (UWS), where he shares his expertise and knowledge with aspiring medical professionals.

Dr. Oar's research work has been recognized and presented at national and international conferences. Notably, he has contributed to articles published in renowned medical journals such as The Lancet Oncology and Medical Dosimetry.
