Dr. Finnigan obtained her medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Newcastle in 2005. After completing her internship and residency at Cairns Base Hospital and Mater Misericordiae Health Services in Brisbane, she embarked on her specialization journey in radiation oncology.

During her specialist training, Dr. Finnigan had the privilege of rotating through various metropolitan and regional training centers across the Queensland network. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious CE Eddy Prize for achieving the highest results in the Radiation Oncology Part 1 Examination conducted by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR). This recognition solidified her commitment to excellence in her field. Dr. Finnigan successfully achieved fellowship to the RANZCR (FRANZCR) in 2013.

From 2013 to 2014, Dr. Finnigan pursued a clinical and research fellowship at Princess Alexandra Hospital, specialising in the areas of intra-cranial stereotactic radiotherapy/radiosurgery (SRT/SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT/SABR). Her expertise in these advanced techniques allows her to effectively treat patients with precision and minimal invasiveness. Since 2014, Dr. Finnigan has worked as a Consultant Radiation Oncologist at Gold Coast University Hospital, where she continues to provide exceptional care to her patients.

Dr. Finnigan is actively involved in clinical research and maintains memberships with esteemed medical organizations. She is a valuable member of the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) and the Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO). Additionally, she participates in the Gold Coast Cancer Care Collaborative Group (GCCCC), where she attends meetings and presents lectures. Dr. Finnigan serves as an Executive Committee member for the Faculty of Radiation Oncology Genito-Urinary Group (FROGG), actively contributing to the advancements in her field.

Passionate about cancer medical education, Dr. Finnigan dedicates her time to teaching and mentoring medical students and training doctors. She has been the Queensland representative for RANZCR Targeting Cancer Medical Student Education Working Group and an associate lecturer for the University of Queensland. Furthermore, she serves as a radiobiology tutor for the Queensland Radiation Oncology Trainee Network and convenor for the annual RANZCR Statistics Workshop. Dr. Finnigan is also a member of the Health Advisory Team for BEAT Bladder Cancer Australia, where she extends her expertise to benefit patients.

With a wide-ranging practice, Dr. Finnigan's special interests lie in breast cancer, lung cancer, lymphoma, prostate cancer, and skin cancer. She is a firm believer in a holistic approach to patient care, actively participating in multidisciplinary team meetings.
