A/Prof Jim Jackson

Associate Professor Jim Jackson is an accomplished and highly-regarded radiation oncologist who practices at three Icon Cancer Centre locations across Queensland. He earned his medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Queensland in 2004, after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Currently a PhD candidate at Monash University, Jackson studies methods to reduce the side effects of cancer treatments.

Following his radiation oncology training in Queensland, he completed a clinical research fellowship focused on Image Guided and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) at Austin-Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in 2012. Jackson joined Icon Cancer Centre Gold Coast in 2014, where he is able to provide his patients with state-of-the-art treatment techniques including stereotactic radiation therapy for lung and brain tumors.

Jackson's area of expertise lies in treating brain, head and neck, gynecological, genitourinary, lung, skin, and breast cancers. He has a passion for teaching medical students and is a research supervisor for radiation oncology trainees and university students. He is also an Honorary Adjunct Assistant Professor at Bond University and Senior Lecturer in Medicine at Griffith University.

In addition to his clinical work, Jackson serves on the Icon Cancer Centre Research Committee and has held several positions with the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), including serving as scientific co-convenor for the RANZCR Annual Scientific Meeting held in the Gold Coast in 2016. Jackson is a member of the American and European Radiation Oncology Societies and reviews scientific papers for national and international medical journals regularly. He is a respected expert in the field of radiation oncology and renowned for his exceptional patient care.
