Dr Ian Shaw

Dr Ian Shaw is a highly qualified and experienced surgeon with special interests in laparoscopic hernia surgery, gallstone disease, and upper gastrointestinal anti-reflux surgery. He graduated with an MBBS from the University of Queensland in 1994, and began his surgical career in Edinburgh, Scotland. Afterward, Dr Shaw returned to complete his surgical training at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, updating a textbook chapter on gallstones before receiving his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Dr Shaw spent nearly two years in the United Kingdom undergoing further training in advanced laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal surgery and liver resection for metastatic colorectal cancer at Basingstoke. During this time, he published a paper on the surgical management of recurrent liver metastases in The British Journal of Surgery and presented his findings at various international meetings.

Currently, Dr Shaw works as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery for the University of Queensland and has been a consultant surgeon since December 2005. He has held positions at Nambour General Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital where he continues to practice. Dr Shaw's work is aimed at providing his patients with personalised care that addresses their unique needs, and he is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest surgical techniques and developments in his field.
