Dr Andrew McBride

Dr Andrew McBride is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in shoulder, elbow, and upper limb surgeries. He practices in Southport, 4215 on the Gold Coast and is associated with Gold Coast Private Hospital and John Flynn Private Hospital. Dr McBride has a particular interest in trauma-fracture, elbow, and shoulder surgeries, as well as arthroscopic shoulder surgery and rehabilitation principles. With his post-surgical fellowship training in reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and elbow, he is skilled in procedures such as arthroscopic shoulder surgery, rotator cuff repair, and joint replacement surgery. Dr McBride has a passion for treating both pediatric and adult patients, providing them with the best possible care and treatment. He also has a background in sports medicine, having previously worked as a sports physiotherapist for the World Championship Tour for Surfing. Currently, he works with various sporting teams, including the Australian Football League (AFL), professional Rugby Union, and Rugby League teams, providing multidisciplinary care. In addition to his specialties, Dr McBride is experienced in Shoulder Joint Replacement Surgery and Rotator Cuff Surgery for older adults, aiming to alleviate pain and improve shoulder function for the patient's lifetime. He is also a member of the Upper Limb Surgery Team at Princess Alexandra Hospital, attending one day a week. Dr McBride takes great interest in teaching, holding the positions of Honorary Adjunct Associate Professor at Bond University and Senior Teaching Fellow at Griffith University. He actively engages in research and stays updated with the latest advancements in the field to offer patients the most advanced and efficient treatments. Outside of his medical practice, Dr McBride is a dedicated father and husband who values contributing to healthcare in the Queensland and Northern New South Wales community.
