Dr Richard Steer

Dr. Rick Steer is a highly skilled hip and knee surgeon with a passion for providing the best possible care to his patients. He specializes in robotic assisted hip and knee replacement surgery, as well as sports knee surgery. Dr. Steer is always striving to stay up to date with the latest research and techniques and regularly attends and presents at conferences and workshops both in Australia and overseas. He aims to be at the forefront of his field and provide his patients with the most advanced and effective treatment options.

Dr. Steer completed his Orthopaedic Surgery training in Queensland and became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2020. During his final term of training, he worked as the lower limb fellow at the Gold Coast University Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital, focusing on hip and knee surgery, including robotic assisted knee surgery. He also took a particular interest in pelvis and acetabulum trauma during this time and undertook additional training at both the Gold Coast University Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Steer then took his skills to Perth, where he completed a fellowship in hip and knee surgery, working with the pioneers of robotic assisted hip and knee arthroplasty in Australia. He also held an honorary fellow position at Royal Perth Hospital, performing pelvic and acetabulum trauma surgery. Dr. Steer has a wealth of experience in his field, and his commitment to research is evident in his multiple publications on knee arthroplasty surgery, including robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty and pelvic trauma.

Aside from his clinical work, Dr. Steer is passionate about educating and training the next generation of medical professionals. He is actively involved in training junior medical staff, nursing staff, and medical students on the Gold Coast and is establishing new research within Gold Coast Health.
