Rachel Wooldridge, a clinical and pathological haematologist, has joined the Gold Coast Private Hospital. Dr Wooldridge earned her MBBS from the University of Queensland in 2003, following a Bachelor of Science at Monash University and a Masters of Science at Griffith University. She worked as a medical laboratory scientist and later began laboratory research at the Genomics Research Centre. Dr Wooldridge received specialised education in haemostasis at the Queensland Haemophilia Treatment Centre, Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital, and training in malignant haematology at the Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation Centre, Princess Alexandra Hospital. She also studied obstetric haematology services at the Royal Brisbane Women’s and Gold Coast Hospitals. Dr Wooldridge has an extensive interest in obstetric haematology, haemostasis, and thrombosis. She is actively involved in international meetings and delivers presentations at national assemblies such as the International and Australian ITP assemblies. She also holds the position of laboratory supervisor at the Gold Coast QML laboratory since March 2015 and played a role in establishing guidelines for patients on newer oral anticoagulants. Dr Wooldridge offers a wide range of general haematology services, both malignant and non-malignant. She is available to answer any pathology laboratory-based questions and welcomes GPs and other healthcare professionals to discuss their patients.
