Dr Alejandro Arbelaez is an accomplished Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist, who has partnered with Dr Hanlon Sia, Dr Herman Lee and Dr Shannon Emmett to provide expert medical care.Earning his Basic Physician Training from Mater Health Services in Brisbane in 2012, Dr Arbelaez underwent both clinical and pathology training in Haematology at Mater Health Services and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. During the course of his training, he focused on clinical and laboratory activities, including the diagnosis and management of various health conditions such as acute and chronic leukaemia, myelodysplasia and myeloproliferative neoplasms, multiple myeloma, haemoglobinopathies, and thrombosis and haemostasis. Dr Arbelaez has a great interest in new developments in haematology, and has participated in clinical trials besides conducting research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting his work at national and international meetings. Dr Arbelaez has been an active member of the medical community through his involvement in teaching and academic activities for medical students from the University of Queensland and Griffith University. He values the importance of providing safe and evidence-based care to his patients, and through his keen interest in good communication with GPs, achieves positive outcomes for his patients. Professional affiliations include Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, membership of the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand, the Gold Coast Medical Association, and the Brisbane Haematology Group. Dr Arbelaez consults patients at John Flynn Private Hospital on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
