Dr Shane Bleakley

Dr Shane Bleakley is an accomplished clinical haematologist at Icon Cancer Centre Southport with extensive experience in the management of various malignant and non-malignant blood disorders. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Honours Class II Division 1) from the University of New South Wales in 1998. He then underwent his junior and senior resident training at St Vincent's and Bankstown Hospitals, rotating through multiple medical terms. Later, he began his basic physician training at St Vincent’s Hospital and completed advanced haematology training at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney and Mater Hospital. During his advanced training, he gained significant experience in managing various blood disorders. In 2006-2008, he acquired laboratory experience at the Mater Hospital, Brisbane, and was actively involved in the laboratory's management. In 2008, Dr Bleakley received exposure to bone marrow transplantation while working as a bone marrow transplant registrar at the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital. Dr Bleakley completed his advanced pathology training at Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP) and has been providing haematological consultation services in private practice on the Gold Coast since 2009. He has expertise in managing a wide range of blood disorders, including myeloproliferative neoplasms, myelodysplasia, stem cell transplantation, thrombosis, and haemostasis. He is also a visiting consultant at Gold Coast Private Hospital, Pindara Private Hospital and John Flynn Private Hospital. Dr Bleakley's in-depth knowledge and expertise in haematology have earned him respect and admiration from his patients and colleagues. His holistic approach to patient care and continuous efforts to improve the management of blood disorders are greatly appreciated by his patients.
