Dr Ben Allen is a well qualified gastroenterologist specialising in endoscopic ultrasound, Barrett's oesophagus, functional gut disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease. He obtained his Honors degree in Medicine from the University of Newcastle in 2003 and completed his training at various renowned hospitals in Victoria and New South Wales, including Geelong Hospital, The Western Hospital in Melbourne, and St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. Dr Allen obtained his fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2010. In 2011, Dr Allen pursued an International Fellowship in advanced endoscopy, specialising in the management of Barrett's oesophagus and endoscopic ultrasound at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland. He brought this specialised expertise back to Australia in 2012 and began practicing gastroenterology in Geelong, where he also served as a senior lecturer at Deakin University. In November 2016, Dr Allen joined Dr Abdool's practice and is currently consulting at the John Flynn Private Medical Centre in Tugun, Gold Coast. Dr Allen's comprehensive skill set allows him to perform diagnostic and interventional gastroscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, and small bowel capsule endoscopy. He has a strong commitment to patient care and continuously strives to provide the highest level of service. Outside of his medical career, Dr Allen enjoys spending quality time with his family and regularly participates in endurance triathlons.
