Dr Geoffrey Francis

Dr. Geoffrey Francis is an exceptionally skilled consultant Gastroenterologist and the Head of Gastroenterology at John Flynn Private Hospital in Benowa, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. He is a male physician with a special interest in gastroenterology. Dr. Francis obtained his science degree with Honors from Newcastle University in 1998. He then pursued his medical studies at the University of Queensland, where he received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree in 2001.

Following his medical studies, Dr. Francis completed his physician training at Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital. He subsequently undertook further training in general gastroenterology at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. Dr. Francis obtained his general fellowship and pursued an advanced interventional endoscopy fellowship at Melbourne's Western Hospital.

In pursuit of advancing his skills, Dr. Francis further enhanced his expertise by completing an interventional fellowship in ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), Endoscopic Ultrasound, and Barrett's Oesophagus Ablation at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, which is renowned as one of the leading G.I. endoscopy facilities in the United States. He returned to the Gold Coast in 2011, bringing with him his extensive experience and expertise in interventional gastroenterology.

Dr. Francis is particularly interested in general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, and cancer screening services. He is highly regarded for his special expertise in interventional gastroenterology, specifically in the areas of ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound, and Capsule Endoscopy. Notably, Dr. Francis was the first Gastroenterologist to introduce the "halo" technology for radio frequency ablation of Barrett's oesophagus to the Gold Coast.
