Dr. Sam Heshmat is a highly skilled neurologist who focuses on movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease. He completed his advanced training in Queensland, where he underwent a fellowship in Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, and a fellowship in neuromuscular diseases. Dr. Heshmat is committed to providing comprehensive care for his patients and is passionate about establishing a multidisciplinary clinic for Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
As an expert in his field, Dr. Heshmat offers advanced device-assisted therapies for Parkinson’s disease, such as apomorphine infusion, duodopa infusion, and deep brain stimulation. He also diagnoses and treats other movement disorders, including tremor, dystonia, balance, and ataxic disorders. Additionally, Dr. Heshmat performs botulinum toxin injections for patients with various movement disorders, such as spasmodic dysphonia, hemifacial spasm, cervical dystonia, limb dystonia, and spasticity.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Heshmat holds academic positions at both the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research and Griffith University. He is involved in a number of neuroscience research projects focussed on movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease, which are conducted in collaboration with these universities.
