Dr Garth McLeod

Dr Garth McLeod is an experienced General Surgeon with a particular interest in obesity and metabolic surgery. He works as a surgeon at Noosa Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and has a purpose-built consulting room in Tewantin at the Cooloola Center. Dr McLeod and his friendly staff offer a welcoming environment where patients can feel at ease when making important decisions about surgical and non-surgical treatment options.

In addition to providing his patients with individualized care, Dr McLeod offers a range of allied health services, including dietetics, psychology, and exercise physiology available on-site at the center's boutique gym.

Dr McLeod obtained his medical degree from Auckland University School of Medicine in 1998 and spent over a decade practicing Surgery and Emergency Medicine in rural hospitals in both New Zealand and Australia. He acquired broad surgical experience, including General Surgery and Urology, and spent five years working in Emergency departments before commencing advanced surgical training in 2010.

Dr McLeod completed his fellowship in Bariatrics with Dr. George Hopkins in Brisbane at two major hospitals, the Holy Spirit Northside and the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospitals. With a caseload of more than 500 bariatric procedures annually, he gained extensive experience in complex primary and revisional cases. Dr McLeod was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the specialty of General Surgery in 2014.
