Dr Drago Popovic

Dr Drago Popovic is a highly qualified general surgeon with expertise in advanced laparoscopy, colorectal surgery, proctology, abdominal and trauma surgery, and skin cancer treatment. As a certified endoscopist, he regularly performs a range of surgical procedures, including endoscopies and colonoscopies. Dr Popovic is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and has worked in various European countries, including Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy, as well as in the United States. He completed advanced laparoscopic training in the US in 1995 and 1998 and, in 2004, earned his Doctor's thesis (PhD) in surgery after conducting research on the treatment of low rectal carcinoma in the Clinical Hospital in Zagreb.

Dr Popovic's contributions to the field of surgery extend beyond his clinical practice. He has been a member of the European Co-Inventor team in Rome since 2000, where he has been involved in the development of several surgical devices and continues to explore innovations in colorectal and laparoscopic surgery. His diverse training has made him a well-rounded surgeon with expertise in various aspects of general surgery, including abdominal surgery, proctology, hernia surgery, skin cancer surgery, military surgery, and peritoneal dialysis catheter and portacath insertion.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Popovic has contributed to the advancement of research and training in surgery. He has been a member of the Australian Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy since 2008 and is a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland. Furthermore, his experience in trauma surgery, particularly military surgery, has added to his exceptional surgical skills.
