Dr Rasika Hendahewa

Dr Rasika Hendahewa is a seasoned General and Colorectal Surgeon with a special interest in Laparoscopic, Colorectal, Breast, and Endocrine surgery. He is a Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Specialist certified by the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Society of Australia (GESA), performing both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Since 2016, Dr Hendahewa has been consulting and performing surgeries at Caboolture Private Hospital in Queensland, Australia.

With a Masters in Surgery earned in 2007 after completing his surgical training in Sri Lanka, Dr Hendahewa pursued post-fellowship training in both upper GI and Colorectal surgeries before obtaining his MRCS in Edinburgh in 2009. He also completed an Advanced Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery in Strasbourg, France, in 2013. Dr Hendahewa underwent additional training in breast and endocrine surgery in Australia before earning his Australian Fellowship in 2015.

As a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, Dr Hendahewa takes a keen interest in teaching and education. He is also a surgical mentor in the region, drawing from his extensive experience and exposure to multiple subspecialties. He takes pride in offering his patients a prompt, compassionate, and comprehensive service across a broad range of general surgical procedures.

Dr Hendahewa holds memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons, and Associate Fellowship of American College of Surgeons. His outstanding reputation and friendly, caring nature make him a trusted professional in his field.
