Dr James Askew

Dr. Askew is a highly regarded General and Bariatric Surgeon with extensive experience in the field. He currently runs a weight loss clinic at Caboolture Private Hospital, where he specialises in Bariatric/Metabolic surgery. Additionally, he has been consulting and operating at the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital since its opening in 2014. With a focus on patient care and comfort, Dr. Askew has built newly constructed consultant suites where he runs separate General Surgical and Bariatric clinics.

Dr. Askew received his BSc and MBBS from the University of Queensland in 2003, before completing his FRACS (Fellow Royal Australian College of Surgeons) in 2010. He pursued post-fellowship training in Bariatric and Upper Gastro-intestinal surgery in New Zealand and Melbourne and subsequently moved his practice to the Sunshine Coast after the opening of the hospital precinct at Kawana.

Dr. Askew's commitment to his profession is evident from his publications in HPB and the ANZ Journal of Surgery and his presentation at the International Society for Diseases of the Oesophagus meeting. He serves as the General Surgical Representative for the Medical Advisory Committee at SCUPH and attends conferences and clinical immersions regularly to maintain his expertise in the latest surgical techniques.

Dr. Askew is passionate about delivering comprehensive care and provides a multi-disciplinary team approach to weight loss that includes surgical, dietitian, and psychological support. His friendly and approachable attitude helps patients feel at ease, and he and his team are dedicated to ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction.

Dr. Askew currently resides on the Sunshine Coast with his young family and enjoys learning to surf in his free time.
