Dr David Henshaw

Dr. David is a Consultant Physician in General Internal Medicine at Noosa Hospital where he has been serving since 2004. With over two decades of experience in the medical field, David has developed an interest in Medicine in the Older Person. His expertise in General Internal Medicine covers a broad range of illnesses, including heart, lung, endocrine, renal, neurological, chronic, and degenerative illnesses.

David's qualifications in Geriatric Medicine are recognized by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He performs Complex Geriatric Assessments and cognitive assessments from a medical perspective. He also provides telehealth services.

David received his undergraduate training in 1991 at Bristol, England, and then trained in General Medicine and Geriatrics in North and East London where he passed the examination of Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 1995. In 2000 he was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in General Medicine and Geriatrics. He received Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2002.

David spent a year in Queensland at Ipswich Hospital, which sparked his desire to return to Australia. In September 2000, he started working as a Consultant Physician in Kalgoorlie, WA. His experience in a remote area gave him a better understanding of the issues surrounding Indigenous Health and the practical aspects of solving some of the issues presented.

Since arriving at Noosa Hospital, David has been heavily involved in the development of services. He spent 9 years on the Medical Advisory Committee, two of them as Chairman. Currently, he is sitting on the Drug and Therapeutics and Infection Control Committees and looking for opportunities to develop the Physician Service in the area.

David is married, has three children, and stays fit by swimming. He has been participating in the Noosa Triathlon as part of the team (swim leg) for the past four years. He is also an avid supporter of Arsenal Football Club.
