Lumus Imaging Noosa Hospital, 111 Goodchap Street, Noosaville QLD 4566
Dr. Simon Hawkins is an experienced general physician who has been practicing at Noosa Hospital since September 2012. He is known for his empathetic, friendly, and communicative approach towards his patients. Dr. Hawkins manages patients with a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, including endocrine problems such as diabetes and thyroid disorders, cardiovascular disease and heart failure, neurological issues like headache, Parkinson's disease, and epilepsy, and chronic respiratory and rheumatological diseases. He specializes in treating complex patients with multiple active problems and undifferentiated illnesses.
Dr. Hawkins graduated from Adelaide University Medical School in 1996 and underwent basic physician training at Royal Adelaide Hospital. He initially started advanced training in Respiratory Medicine but found his calling in the more varied practice of a general physician. He then moved to Cairns Base Hospital in 2002 to undertake advanced training in general medicine. After completing his specialist training, Dr. Hawkins worked as the sole physician in Innisfail, a rural area south of Cairns, where he gained significant experience in managing chronic illnesses, as access to subspecialists was limited in the area.
Dr. Hawkins is included in Noosa Hospital's roster of admitting physicians for both public and private patients and conducts private outpatient clinics on a regular basis to provide specialist ambulatory care. He was recently elected as the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC). In his free time, Dr. Hawkins enjoys pursuing his passion for fishing with his family, who enjoy the laid-back lifestyle of the Sunshine Coast.
