Dr Amy O'Connor

Dr Amy O'Connor is an experienced Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, having trained in Queensland and completed her Fellowship in 2013. She then spent five years overseas gaining expertise in head and neck resection and reconstruction, melanoma management, breast reconstruction, hand and burns surgery. She is well-versed in pediatric and adult reconstructive and aesthetic surgery and has made significant contributions to the field.

In 2018, Dr O'Connor founded the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Unit at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) and served as its Clinical Director. She was instrumental in expanding the delivery of specialist plastic surgical services in the region. During her tenure, she chaired the Skin and Melanoma Multidisciplinary Meeting and was a member of the Breast and Head and Neck MDTs. The plastic surgery skin cancer service established at SCUH in 2018 won the State Winner of the 2019 Queensland Government Winner for Excellence in Health Care, reflecting the success of her efforts.

Dr O'Connor is now focusing on her private practice and is consulting at Noosa Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital. While her practice is not limited to skin cancer resection and reconstruction, it is one of her primary areas of specialty. Her primary goal is to provide excellent care to her patients with integrity. Referrals are preferred by Medical Objects, and she requests patient biopsy results.

When Dr O'Connor is not in the operating theatre, she enjoys spending time with her sons by the ocean.
