Dr Jeremy Long

Dr Jeremy Long is a well qualified and experienced Haemato-Oncologist specialising in lung cancer, urological malignancies, lymphoma, supportive care, and cancer survivorship. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in 1985 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1998.

After serving for two years in the Military as a Lieutenant, Dr Long pursued his passion for Haemato-Oncology and obtained his specialization in the field in 1994. He worked as a Specialist in South Africa until 1996, after which he migrated to New Zealand. There, he worked at Auckland Hospital and Waikato Hospital, where he received his FRACP in Medical Oncology in 1999. From 2002 to 2008, Dr Long served as the Director of the Regional Cancer Centre for the Waikato District Health Board.

In 2008, Dr Long moved to Nambour in Queensland, Australia and was appointed as the Director of Cancer Care Services for the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service in 2010. He held this position until 2020, providing high-quality care and expertise to patients. His extensive experience and knowledge in Haemato-Oncology make him an invaluable asset to the Coastal Cancer Care team, ensuring high-quality and consistent care.

Dr Long is a strong advocate for multi-disciplinary teamwork and actively participates in various MDT groups, including lung, urology, breast at Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH), and breast MDT at Buderim Private, and the general MDT at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital (SCUPH).

Committed to staying up to date with the latest developments in his field, Dr Long is a member of several professional memberships and research groups, including the Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGTIG), Australian Lung Trials Group (ALTG), Australia and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Breast Cancer Trials (BCT), Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA), and the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA).
