Dr Anna Isaacs

Dr. Anna Isaacs is a skilled surgeon who specializes in general, metabolic, and upper gastrointestinal surgeries in the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers area. Graduating from the University of Sydney after completing a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Psychology at Macquarie University, Dr. Isaacs began her career at Westmead Hospital as an intern and resident. After completing her surgical training at Westmead Hospital, Bathurst Base Hospital, and Coffs Harbour Base Hospital, she earned her fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2017. Dr. Isaacs further honed her skills and expertise by completing a year as a General Surgical Fellow at QEII Hospital in Brisbane, followed by two years of Upper GI fellowship training at The Tweed Hospital and John Flynn Private Hospital. Additionally, she dedicated two years to the prestigious post-fellowship training program of the Australian & Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric & Oesophageal Surgery Association (AANZGOSA) at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne and Concord Hospital in Sydney, specializing in metabolic, gastro-oesophageal cancer, and hiatus hernia surgeries.

Dr. Isaacs holds a keen interest in a wide range of surgical operations, specializing in Upper GI surgeries such as hiatus hernia, anti-reflux, metabolic, and gastric cancer surgery. She also performs general surgical operations including cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and endoscopy. She is a member of the Upper GI multidisciplinary team that diagnoses cancer at The Tweed Hospital and participates in the Monash Bariatric Surgery Clinical Quality Registry. Dr. Isaacs also enjoys teaching medical students and is involved in training surgical registrars. An avid instructor of the RACS course - Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCRISP), she has taught students at Queensland University, Griffith University, Bond University, and others.

Dr. Isaacs has consulting rooms at The Core Specialist Group in John Flynn Medical Centre and is based at John Flynn Private Hospital and The Tweed Hospital. Her interests include Upper GI surgeries, such as sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass surgery, and open and minimally invasive gastric cancer surgeries. Additionally, she offers general surgical operations such as Cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and endoscopy. She is skilled in treating both benign and malignant cases and has a passion for helping patients live their happiest and healthiest lives.
