Dr Candice Silverman

Dr Candice Silverman is an experienced General and Laparoscopic Surgeon with a special interest in upper-gastrointestinal surgery, hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery, and obesity surgery. With her focus on minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures, she offers compassionate and individualized care to her patients at John Flynn Private Hospital as well as working as the Head of Department, General Surgery, at Tweed Heads Hospital and Murwillumbah Hospital in New South Wales, Australia.

Dr Silverman is dedicated to her own education and that of others. She is involved in training general surgical registrars and is a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University and an Assistant Professor at Bond University. Additionally, she serves as a Course Instructor for the Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST) Program. She graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1998 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with Honours degree. During her time in the Australian Navy as a Ships Medical Officer, she also completed a certificate in Sports Medicine through the University of New South Wales.

Dr Silverman completed her surgical training and fellowship in General Surgery in 2007 with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and then went on to pursue two sub-specialty fellowships. In 2008, she completed a hepato-pancreato-biliary fellowship at Fremantle Hospital in Western Australia, followed by a Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at John Flynn Private Hospital, Queensland, in 2009, which reinforced her passion for this field of medicine.
