Dr Sumit Lumba

Dr Sumit Lumba is a highly skilled medical oncologist specialising in the treatment of cancer patients across all tumor groups. With expertise in gastrointestinal (colorectal, pancreas, stomach), genitourinary (prostate, renal, and bladder), breast, and lung cancers, Dr Lumba provides a high level of care to his patients. Additionally, he has a particular interest in clinical trials and research and is currently pursuing a Masters of Clinical Trials and Research at the University of Sydney.

Dr Lumba received his general physician training at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, and further advanced his medical oncology training at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, where he obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).

To enhance his skills and knowledge, Dr Lumba completed a clinical research fellowship at Liverpool Hospital/Ingham Research Institute at the University of New South Wales. During this time, he served as a Principal Investigator for various clinical trials, spanning from Phase 1 to Phase 3, at John Flynn Private Hospital and Tweed Hospitals. He remains an active member of several prestigious oncology groups and societies, including the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trial Group Meeting (AGITG), Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA), American Society of Clinical Oncologists (ASCO), Clinical Oncology Group Society of Australia (COSA), Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP), and Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP).

Dr Lumba's linguistic abilities in Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu enable him to effectively manage patients from multicultural communities. As a staff specialist in medical oncology at the Tweed Hospital, he is dedicated to providing comprehensive care to his patients. Additionally, Dr Lumba is affiliated with Pindara Private Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital. His academic appointments with UNSW and the University of Newcastle further demonstrate his commitment to education and research in the field of oncology.
