Dr Mohammed Islam

Dr Mohammed Islam is an experienced medical oncologist specialising in the treatment of cancer. Based in Southport, Gold Coast, Dr Islam holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh. He became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2010, demonstrating his dedication to providing high-quality healthcare.

With over twelve years of medical experience in three different countries, Dr Islam possesses valuable cross-cultural communication skills and insights into diverse medical systems. He has completed specialist medical oncology training at renowned institutions including Princess Alexandra Hospital, Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, and Gold Coast Hospitals.

Throughout his career, Dr Islam has maintained an active interest in teaching and clinical research. He is a principal investigator and sub-investigator on several clinical trials at Icon Cancer Centre Southport and Gold Coast University Hospital. Dr Islam has also authored multiple publications, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge in his field.

Prior to establishing his practice on the Gold Coast, Dr Islam served as a medical oncology staff specialist at Cairns Base Hospital and held a senior lecturer position at James Cook University. Currently, Dr Islam is not only a private practitioner at Icon Cancer Centre but also a medical oncology staff specialist at Gold Coast University Hospital. His expertise is sought after across different hospitals in the region, including John Flynn Private Hospital, Pindara Private Hospital, and Gold Coast Private Hospital.

Dr Islam's clinical expertise spans various solid tumour malignancies, with a particular focus on colorectal cancer, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, and urogenital cancers. His vast experience in managing and treating these conditions has made him a trusted oncologist in the community.
