Prof Matthew Links is an experienced medical oncologist with over 25 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various malignancies. He currently practices at Icon Cancer Centre Southport, located in the suburb of Southport, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. His affiliated hospital is St George Private Hospital. Prof Links earned his medical qualifications, MBBS and PhD, from Sydney University. He underwent specialist oncology training at leading hospitals in Sydney. In 2000, he completed his PhD in cancer drug development at the University of New South Wales. Following this, he pursued a fellowship at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow. Prior to his current position, Prof Links served as a staff specialist in medical oncology at St George Hospital from 2000 to 2016. He also held the position of Director of Clinical Training at Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. Prof Links has a keen interest in education, quality improvement, and clinical research. He actively engages in medical education and is involved in co-authoring articles for leading national and international medical publications. He holds the title of Professor of Medicine at Bond University and has previously held positions as Professor of Medicine at Griffith University and Adjunct Professor of Education at Griffith Institute for Educational Research. Being an active member of prestigious medical associations such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Medical Oncology Group of Australia, and Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA), Prof Links remains up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field. He is also a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and has served on the RACP Education Committee. Prof Links' clinical expertise covers a wide range of solid tumour malignancies. He has a special interest in breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, geriatric cancer care, integration of primary care with specialist cancer care, as well as providing second opinions.
