Dr Mara Clarson is a skilled General Surgeon, specialising in Breast and Endocrine Surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery, and trauma. She attained her medical degree from the University of Queensland in 2003 and was quickly admitted into the Advanced Surgical Training program with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. Dr Clarson completed her specialty surgical training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Queensland. After achieving her Fellowship, she worked as a Fellow at the Endocrine Surgical Unit in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. It was here that she gained valuable experience in minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery, as well as laparoscopic adrenal surgery.
Dr Clarson served as the General Surgical Fellow at Nambour General Hospital in 2013 and was later appointed Staff Specialist in General Surgery. During her tenure at Nambour, Dr Clarson worked tirelessly to improve surgical outcomes for trauma patients while engaging as the Case Coordinator for the Trauma Quality Improvement Committee. At present, Dr Clarson is heavily involved in improving patient outcomes as an instructor on the TIPS (Training in Professional Skills) course, organised by the College of Surgeons, and as the Chairperson of the Medical Advisory Committee at the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital.
Dr Clarson offers quality surgical services, including Laparoscopic Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Hernia Repair, Breast Surgery for both benign and cancerous tumours, and Breast Reconstruction Surgery. She has a passion for her profession, and her diligence and devotion to improving patient outcomes make her an indispensable asset to the healthcare sector.
