Dr Garth Essig Jr

Dr Garth Essig is an experienced otolaryngologist who specialises in both adult and paediatric ENT. His areas of expertise include general paediatric ENT, nasal airway and sinus surgery, removal of skin lesions with local repair, and thyroid/parathyroid surgery. Dr Essig obtained his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, followed by advanced training at the University of Virginia. He then completed a combined fellowship at Princess Alexandra and Logan Hospitals. After returning to the United States, Dr Essig worked as a consultant surgeon at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Centre and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. During his tenure, he served as Director of Facial Trauma and Reconstruction and attained the rank of Associate Professor in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. In this position, he trained young surgeons and taught medical students while also conducting and presenting research on an international scale. Dr Essig is concurrently Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and holds Fellowships in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery from both the American College of Surgeons and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. In 2019, he returned to Brisbane to be closer to his family. With his extensive knowledge and expertise, Dr Essig continues to have a positive impact on his patients' lives.
