Dr Ryan Sommerville

Dr Ryan Sommerville is a highly skilled Ear, Nose, and Throat, Head and Neck Cancer and Skull Base surgeon with his practice based in Brisbane, Queensland. In 2008, he achieved his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and further pursued post-fellowship training in Skull Base Surgery under the renowned Professor Giovanni Danesi in Bergamo, Italy. Currently, Dr Sommerville operates at the RBWH, serving as a valuable member of the RBWH Head and Neck Cancer MDT and the QLD Skull Base Unit. Dr Sommerville specialises in Skull Base Oncological Surgery, employing open anterior and lateral approaches and extended endoscopic anterior skull base approaches in the treatment and management of benign and malignant diseases. He is actively engaged in public work, providing his expertise in Skull Base Surgery for surgical patients. At the same time, he also offers private consultations at multiple locations, including Wickham Terrace, North Lakes, Burpengary, Ascot, and Tarragindi. His areas of interest include paediatric and adult ENT, otology, parotid tumours, head and neck cancer, FESS, and snoring surgery. In addition to his medical passions, Dr Sommerville is keen on staying fit and maintaining a work-life balance, thanks to the support and companionship of his wife and two daughters. His other interests include cycling, running, and participating in various recreational activities that provide him with much-needed respite from his demanding job.
