Dr Ashisha Kallukaran, known as Dr. Ash, is an exceptionally skilled dual specialist in Paediatric Immunology and Allergy as well as General Paediatrics, based in Brisbane, Australia. With a holistic approach to care, Dr. Ash provides expert and collaborative care for children aged 0 to 16.
Dr. Ash has a passion for all aspects of paediatric care and enjoys supporting families through the challenges of newborn care, as well as managing general paediatric issues and complex cases. She believes in the importance of working together with parents, carers, and other healthcare professionals to achieve the best outcomes for the children she treats, valuing their knowledge and experience.
specialising in the management of allergies, Dr. Ash is experienced in treating various forms such as food, drugs, environmental allergies, eczema, asthma, and allergic rhinitis. She conducts diagnostic procedures including skin prick testing, intradermal testing, food challenges, and immunotherapy for allergic rhinitis. Additionally, she manages immune system disorders, including immunodeficiency, autoinflammatory disorders, eosinophilic esophagitis, angioedema, and chronic urticaria.
Dr. Ash obtained her fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Paediatric Immunology and Allergy, as well as General Paediatrics in 2021. She completed her specialist training through the Sydney Children’s and Queensland Children’s hospital networks. Dr. Ash earned her basic degree in Medicine from Mumbai in 2004 and later moved to Australia to complete a Master of Medicine at the University of Sydney in 2007.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ash has actively contributed to the field of allergy research and has presented at various conferences in Australia. She is dedicated to educating general practitioners, particularly in rural settings, and has delivered presentations at several Paediatric updates. Dr. Ash has also written popular articles and blogs on child health. She is an active member of ASCIA (Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy) and TAPID collaboration (Transplantation and Primary Immunodeficiency). Furthermore, she serves as an Associate Lecturer at the University of Queensland.
Dr. Ash employs evidence-based medicine to develop comprehensive management plans for her patients, focusing on improving confidence in managing their child's symptoms within the whole family. She currently works in private practice and serves as a visiting General Paediatrician at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. As a mother of two young children, she understands and empathizes with family concerns, infusing her care with kindness and sensitivity.
In her leisure time, Dr. Ash enjoys spending quality time with her family and her beloved pet.
