Dr Charles Chabert's profile

Dr. Charles Chabert is a consultant urological surgeon and the Director of The Prostate Clinic and Laparoscopic Urology Australia, located on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. He is also an Assistant Professor at Bond University and holds a clinical appointment at Pindara Private Hospital. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Chabert is an expert in men's health and has been instrumental in the development of innovative techniques and treatments for urological conditions. His commitment to providing the latest therapeutic options for men with prostate-based problems has led him to refine the delivery of cutting-edge treatments for his patients.

Dr. Chabert received his medical degree from Aberdeen University, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) with distinctions in surgery, anatomy, and physiology. He went on to complete post-graduate training in general surgery and was subsequently invited to become a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS(Ed)). Dr. Chabert completed his advanced urological surgical training in New South Wales, during which time he was awarded the Christopher Farrell prize and the George Schnitzler Award for the best registrar of the year.

Dr. Chabert’s sub-specialist training in laparoscopic urology under the mentorship of one of Europe’s pioneering laparoscopic surgeons enabled him to acquire expertise in laparoscopic urological surgery, including laparoscopic nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy and keyhole prostate surgery for prostate cancer. During his fellowship, he published and presented several papers on various aspects of prostate cancer surgery, treatment, and reconstructive laparoscopic urology in international medical journals and urological conferences worldwide. Following this, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS(Urol)).

Dr. Chabert established the first laparoscopic radical prostatectomy program on the Gold Coast in 2008 and has been regularly performing robotic-assisted keyhole surgery since its introduction in Queensland in 2010. Today, he is the largest volume robotic surgeon on the Gold Coast, performing both robotic renal and prostate surgery. He also established the first laparoscopic or keyhole prostatectomy service in rural Australia in Lismore, NSW. Dr. Chabert's expertise in the field is evidenced by the over 800 cases of keyhole and robotic-assisted keyhole prostate surgery with outcomes that are equivalent to those of large published international series. He has achieved low positive surgical margin rates, excellent urinary continence, and potency, making him a highly respected figure in urological surgery.
