Dr Martin Elmes

Dr. Elmes is an expert in the field of urology, providing patients with access to a full range of high-quality urological services on the Gold Coast. With over ten years of experience and extensive surgical training, Dr. Elmes is highly qualified and brings advanced techniques and cutting edge equipment to his practice.

Dr. Elmes has a particular interest in minimally invasive robotic prostate and kidney surgery, laser kidney stone treatment, and BPH treatment using advanced laser prostate enucleation techniques such as HoLEP, UroLift, and the prostate steam treatment devices. He is passionate about educating patients on urological care to provide the best treatment and post-care options available.

Dr. Elmes' impressive academic and professional achievements include earning Dean's Honours and Dux of Physiology & Biochemistry during his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees. He completed general surgical training at the Alfred, Austin, and Western hospitals in Melbourne before pursuing a Urology residency and investigating prostate cancer immunology through a Doctorate of Medicine. Dr. Elmes was awarded the prestigious Ronald John Gleghorn Scholarship and the inaugural Rodney Syme Scholarship in 2006 and 2007, respectively.

Upon earning his FRACS in Sydney, Dr. Elmes further refined his sub-speciality techniques and completed a fellowship under Australia's leading stone endourologist, Dr. Raymond Ko. He spent time with world experts in open and minimally invasive cancer surgery and was the first Fellow to use the Da Vinci Si robot in the largest urological training hospital in NSW.

Dr. Elmes also consults on broader general urological issues, including PSA surveillance and management, prostate cancer robotic surgery, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), kidney cancer, TCC-bladder cancer, and penile prosthesis post-robotic prostatectomy surgery.
