Dr Ryan Markham

Dr Ryan Markham is an esteemed Interventional Cardiologist with a particular focus on ischaemic and valvular heart disease management. At the forefront of his specialisation, he routinely performs coronary and structural interventions including percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), transcatheter mitral and tricuspid therapies (TMTT), and congenital heart defect repair.

Dr Markham’s education is exemplary, having earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of New South Wales, Sydney before completing advanced cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane. While pursuing a Master of Philosophy at The University of Queensland, Dr Markham evaluated mitral annular geometry. He continued his medical education in the United States, training at Stanford University to focus on structural intervention. His experience there included involvement in several high-risk trials evaluating patients with valvular heart disease.

In recognition of his expertise, Dr Markham was offered a prestigious position at the Stanford Byers Centre for Biodesign to assist in the development of medical devices for patients with critical cardiovascular diseases with a focus on utilizing artificially intelligent software to predict patient outcomes.

Dr Markham is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, a respected lecturer at the University of Queensland, and an extensively published author on coronary and structural cardiac intervention topics in international peer-reviewed journals.
