Dr Tomos Walters

Dr Tomos Walters is a highly accomplished consultant cardiologist specialising in cardiac electrophysiology and arrhythmia management. Based in Spring Hill, 4000, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, he is recognized for his expertise in catheter ablation of complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmia, as well as the implantation and management of cardiac devices.

Dr Walters possesses a strong interest in the correlation between a patient's psychosocial state, feedback regarding lifestyle factors, and their arrhythmia burden. He envisions using app-based technology to provide patients with real-time feedback in order to enhance their cardiac health outcomes.

Dr Walters completed his medical degree with first-class honors at The University of Melbourne, where he also obtained a Bachelor of Medical Science in medical virology. He pursued his medical residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and his advanced training in cardiology at both the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. Additionally, he completed a clinical fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and conducted a PhD focused on the electrical mechanisms underlying atrial fibrillation at the University of Melbourne.

Having subsequently relocated to San Francisco, Dr Walters furthered his clinical and research training before assuming the position of Assistant Professor at the University of California. His research primarily revolves around persistent atrial fibrillation and cardiomyopathy induced by ventricular ectopic beats. Dr Walters has made substantial contributions to his field, publishing extensively in renowned cardiology journals, authoring multiple book chapters, and frequently speaking at international conferences.

In 2019, Dr Walters returned to Australia, initially assuming a staff specialist position at The Prince Charles Hospital, and subsequently joining QCG as a cardiologist and electrophysiologist.
