Prof David Walker

Professor David Walker is a highly skilled neurosurgeon with a particular focus on surgical treatments for conditions affecting the brain and spine. He has been with Briz Brain & Spine since its inception in 2005 and has continued to build his reputation as a leading expert in the field.

Prof Walker received his medical degree from the University of Queensland, after which he pursued his PhD in Molecular Genetics of Astrocytomas at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research. Post his doctorate, he completed his advanced neurosurgical training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia. Later on, he took a Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at Boston's renowned Brigham and Women's Hospital in the USA, during which time he was also appointed a position at Harvard University. He honed his neurosurgical and clinical skills in the management of brain and pituitary tumours while in the United States.

Prof Walker's commitment to advancing neuroscience and patient care is demonstrated through his active research projects. He continues to conduct research in basic science and clinical fields and has affiliations with the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and the Newro Foundation.

Prof Walker's dedication to patient care is matched by his commitment to guiding the next generation of medical practitioners. He currently serves as a professor in the Faculty Medicine at the University of Queensland, Griffith University, and Bond University. With his vast experience and expertise, he continues to excel in all areas of neurosurgery and spinal surgery.
