Dr. Kelly MacGroarty is a renowned orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports surgery, with a focus on knee and shoulder injuries. As a founding member of the Brisbane Knee and Sports Surgery group, Dr. Kelly has extensive experience in managing sports injuries related to the knee and shoulder joints.
Dr. Kelly completed his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1995, followed by advanced training in Orthopaedics. He obtained his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2003. Throughout his career, Dr. Kelly has worked as a staff surgeon at Prince Charles Hospital and Redcliffe General Hospital. He also completed post-graduate fellowship training in shoulder and knee surgery in the United Kingdom and Canada.
Dr. Kelly is highly respected for establishing the first dedicated shoulder unit at Prince Charles Hospital. In addition to his clinical practice, he is involved in medico-legal reporting and is a certified independent medical examiner registered with the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.
Currently, Dr. Kelly serves as the Queensland Chair of the Australian Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons and as a senior lecturer in Orthopaedics at the University of Queensland. He is also the Treasurer and Secretary of the Queensland Shoulder Society.
