Dr Rohit Bansal is a highly qualified Consultant Physician and Geriatrician with over 20 years of clinical experience. He completed his post-graduate training in General Medicine (DNB) in 2007. Following this, he moved to Australia to further his research and training in Geriatrics, completing his training in Geriatric Medicine in 2017. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Australasian College of Physicians in Geriatric Medicine and has written several scientific papers, as well as presented at international conferences. Dr Bansal provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary health care approach to the ageing population on the Gold Coast, addressing all aspects of acute, sub-acute, and rehabilitative care for the hospitalized elderly and community dwellers. He emphasizes open and effective communication with his patients and their families to enhance decision-making and improve outcomes. He has a special interest in managing fragility fractures of the elderly in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease and Parkinson's disease dementia in collaboration with neurologists, and recurrent falls in the elderly. Dr Bansal's areas of expertise include delirium, dementia, cognitive impairment, stroke, diabetes in the frail elderly, polypharmacy in the elderly, falls, behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, depression in older people/older age psychiatry, osteoporosis, and care of the caregiver/when nursing home placement is the only option. Overall, Dr Bansal's approach to geriatric care is holistic and patient-centered. He seeks to improve the quality of life for his older patients by providing comprehensive medical care that addresses not just their physical health but also their emotional and social wellbeing.
