Dr Monica Zen

Dr. Monica Zen is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist dedicated to providing high-quality evidence-based holistic care to her patients. As a staff specialist consultant at Westmead Hospital, she leads the High-Risk Obstetric Clinic. Additionally, she serves as an obstetric advisor to the Ministry of Health, where she leads policy development within the Western Sydney Local Health District, contributing to the state-wide redesign of maternal transfers. Her patient-centered philosophy centers around working hand-in-hand with her patients through their healthcare journey, providing individualized and attentive care while ensuring her patients’ needs are met.

Dr. Zen is a strong advocate for providing the best evidence-based clinical care, as demonstrated by her PhD from the University of Sydney and the numerous coveted grants she has received. Her research focuses on disorders of placentation, such as preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction. She is also engaged in teaching and mentoring the next generation of Obstetric and Gynaecology specialists, serving as a clinical lecturer for the University of Sydney, as well as a Learning Advisor for the University of Sydney Medical School. She is also a training supervisor for RANZCOG.

Promoting general health and wellbeing among women is one of Dr. Zen's passions. As a certified group fitness leader from the Australian Institute of Fitness and a certified Les Mills BodyStep instructor, she inspires other women to meet their fitness goals, especially during and after pregnancy. She believes in supporting her patients in achieving appropriate fitness goals to help them experience a positive and memorable pregnancy and delivery journey. Finally, as a loving mother of three children, Dr. Zen delights in sharing and celebrating their journey through life together.
