Dr Alex Chen

Alex is an accomplished Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over a decade of experience in his field. He is highly respected and has privileges at several prestigious hospitals, including Westmead and Norwest Private, Westmead and Auburn Public Hospitals. He prides himself on his ability to provide optimal care and excellent communication, which he believes are paramount to successful medical practice. In addition to English, Alex also consults in Mandarin.

Alex completed his Bachelor of Medical Science with first-class honours in Developmental Physiology at the University of Sydney, followed by an MBBS degree with honours at Monash University. He is currently pursuing a dual Master of Public Health and Master of Health Leadership and Management at the University of New South Wales. Alex's specialty training took him across three Australian states, as well as overseas, where he received training in Taiwan and regional settings. He honed his skills at the largest tertiary Obstetrics and Gynaecology units in Victoria and NSW, managing both high-risk obstetric and complex gynaecological patients. Additionally, he completed two fellowships as a Westmead O&G Senior Registrar and Advanced Gynaecology Fellow in Taiwan.

Alex is passionate about clear communication and supporting women and their partners through their pregnancy and surgical journeys with positivity and guidance. He specializes in obstetrics and minimally invasive gynaecological surgery, including laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and vaginal surgery. He is also a member of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Association and the Sydney West Advanced Pelvic Surgery.

Alex is an advocate for patients, doctors, the environment, and education. He has held various leadership roles, including the AMA Victoria Southern Subdivision Chairperson and Councillor, Victorian Subcommittee member for Doctors for the Environment Australia, presented research at RANZCOG and AGES meetings, taught medical students across different universities, and is a RANZCOG training supervisor for junior medical officers. Alex's special interests also include colposcopy, and he is deeply committed to providing the best care possible.
