Dr Michael Bryant is a highly experienced neurosurgeon with over 20 years of experience in treating conditions related to the brain and spine. After completing his undergraduate medical training at the University of Queensland in 1997, Dr Bryant underwent extensive training in advanced neurosurgery at the Royal Brisbane and Royal Adelaide Hospitals. During this time, he also conducted groundbreaking research in animal brain tumour modelling at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research in 2005.
Following the completion of his Fellowship exams in 2008, Dr Bryant obtained a combined Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Fellowship at the Flinders Medical Centre and Royal Adelaide Hospitals, where he gained expertise in treating a wide range of spinal conditions including trauma and degenerative spinal conditions. In 2009, he established the first dedicated Neurosurgical Spinal Fracture Clinic in Brisbane and worked with Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeons to gain acceptance into the city's multidisciplinary Spinal Unit.
In 2019, Dr Bryant moved to the Sunshine Coast where he is currently serving as a consultant and director of Synapse Neurosurgery, devoting his time to educating and managing patients with neurosurgical and spinal conditions. He continues to attend fortnightly Spinal Meetings at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, maintaining academic positions with Griffith and Bond Universities while also serving as the Secretary of the Neurosurgical Society of Queensland.
Dr Bryant is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of various professional associations including the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia, Neurosurgical Society of Queensland, Australian Medical Association Queensland, Spine Society of Australia and Sunshine Coast Local Medical Association. His extensive experience and expertise make him one of the most respected and sought-after neurosurgeons on the Sunshine Coast.
