Dr Craig Winter is a respected Senior Neurosurgeon at the Brisbane Private Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, where he provides compassionate care to both private and public adult patients. Dr. Winter also serves as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Queensland and actively teaches neurosurgery to Neurosurgical Registrars at RBWH.
Dr. Winter's extensive medical training began at the University of Cambridge, where he earned his medical degree before proceeding to surgical training. He subsequently became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Eng) before completing his Neurosurgical Training. Dr. Winter earned a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) following two years as a neurosurgical fellow at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
Dr. Winter's surgical expertise spans many conditions, including cerebrovascular, degenerative spine, brain tumours, hydrocephalus, periperal nerve, cranial, and spinal trauma. Having trained in both the UK and Australia, Dr. Winter has a particular interest in Cerebrovascular Surgery (Aneurysms and AVMs), Neuro-oncology and Spine, including Basic and Complex Spine Surgery.
Dr. Winter is actively involved in research and has ongoing projects exploring subarachnoid haemorrhage, aneurysms, hypoxic and traumatic brain injury. He recently completed a PhD from the University of Cambridge and holds Adjunct Associate Professor titles at Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University.
