Dr Geoff Wong

Dr. Geoff Wong is a highly skilled and experienced academic cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist who specializes in treating heart rhythm disorders and inherited arrhythmia syndromes. He obtained his medical degree from the prestigious University of Melbourne in 2007 and underwent extensive training in physician and cardiology at several leading hospitals in Australia, including Austin, Northern, and Royal Adelaide Hospitals.

After completing his clinical fellowship and PhD at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he studied the genetics of atrial arrhythmias under world-renowned Professor Jon Kalman, Dr. Wong went on to receive further specialized training in electrophysiology at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London, UK.

Dr. Wong is a published author of over 40 articles in high-impact journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of American College of Cardiology, and Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology. He is also a Heart Foundation Post-doctoral Scholar and was funded by the NHMRC during his PhD.

Dr. Wong is passionate about advancing patient care through his clinical work and research, and his dedication to the field has earned him national and international recognition. He has been a finalist in both local and international scientific conferences, including the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand Ralph Reader Prize and the 2019 Samuel Levine Young Investigator Award at the American Heart Association. He is also the winner of the 2020 Heart Rhythm Prize at the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand meeting for his groundbreaking work on gender-based differences in atrial fibrillation.

Aside from his medical work, Dr. Wong enjoys an active lifestyle that includes running, cycling, and basketball. He currently holds locum appointments at Austin Health and the Northern Hospital and is committed to providing the highest quality of care to his patients.
