Mr Sam Bewsher

Sam Bewsher is an accomplished Victorian-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in surgeries of the hip and knee. He has extensive expertise in primary procedures, complex revisions, and the management of deep periprosthetic joint infections. Sam also maintains a keen interest in orthopaedic trauma and general lower limb orthopaedic and sports conditions.

Originally from Hobart, Sam completed his medical education at the University of Newcastle. After his intern year, he returned to Melbourne and settled with his young family in the Diamond Valley area. Sam's orthopaedic surgical training was conducted in Melbourne and regional Victoria, where he gained extensive clinical experience in major trauma centers and three pediatric centers.

Sam obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Fellowship of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He spent 2019 as a staff specialist at The Northern Hospital, where he was heavily involved in the education of young orthopaedic surgical trainees and remained on the on-call trauma roster. During this time, he also completed his Clinical Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement Surgery under the guidance of an internationally renowned expert in the field.

Sam's research interests include lower limb traumatic injuries, patellofemoral joint instability, and arthroplasty. He is still affiliated with The Northern Hospital and is currently based at Warringal Private Hospital in Heidelberg. He also provides monthly consultations at Kilmore Hospital. Sam welcomes referrals for assessment and management in his specialty fields of interest, as well as general and sports-related lower limb orthopaedic issues and all areas of orthopaedic trauma. He understands the urgent nature of his specialty and triages referrals accordingly for timely evaluation.
