Dr Joanna Lenaghan

Dr Joanna Lenaghan is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery. With over a decade of experience in her field, she currently serves as a consultant at Eastern Health and the Northern Hospital, where she delivers compassionate and excellent patient care.

Dr Lenaghan completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Melbourne in 1999. She furthered her academic pursuits by obtaining a Master of Surgery by Research from the same institution in 2005 and a Diploma of Surgical Anatomy in 2004. She was awarded the Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2011.

Throughout her career, Dr Lenaghan has held positions in various hospitals across Melbourne, regional Victoria, Tasmania, Portland, and the USA. She is passionate about education and has served as an anatomy tutor at the University of Melbourne, senior lecturer at Monash and Deakin Universities, and honorary senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne. Additionally, she has supervised and mentored orthopaedic trainees at Maroondah Hospital and the Northern Hospital.

Dr Lenaghan has dedicated the past decade to specializing in foot and ankle surgery. She stays up-to-date with the latest advancements in her field through attending conferences, workshops, and collaborating with her colleagues. Her areas of special interest include bunion corrections, forefoot reconstruction, adult flatfoot and hindfoot reconstruction, ankle ligament reconstruction, sports injuries and fractures, and minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures.

As a second-generation orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Lenaghan is one of five Lenaghan surgeons thriving in the field of foot and ankle surgery. She is highly respected and sought-after for her surgical skills and comprehensive approach to patient care. Dr Lenaghan is dedicated to providing compassionate and high-quality surgical care to her patients while also advancing the medical field through her research and teaching efforts.
