A/Prof Ramin Shayan

Dr Ramin Shayan is an accomplished Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon who has been a member of the Brighton Plastic Surgery team since 2014. He offers a full range of plastic, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgical procedures to his male and female patients. Dr Shayan completed his medical education at the University of Melbourne and was an AMA student representative during his studies. He was awarded his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2001 and pursued further research to obtain a PhD from the University of Melbourne on the molecular biology of Lymphoedma, the lymphatic system, and cancer metastasis in 2005-2007.

Dr Shayan is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and holds the position of Director of The O’Brien Institute at St Vincent’s Institute. As Director of the O'Brien Institute, Dr Shayan focuses on investigating tissue engineering and the molecular mechanisms of diseases such as cancer survivorship and regenerative medicine. His dedication and hard work have secured him numerous honors and awards throughout his career. He was awarded the University of Melbourne medal in Surgery and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons JP Prize for top candidate in Surgery.

Dr Shayan was also the recipient of several other prestigious awards and scholarships during his PhD program, including the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Raelene Boyle Cancer Scholarship and Surgeon Scientist Scholarships. He was the winner of the Ludwig Institute Prize, the Melbourne Health Prize, and the Plastic Surgery Research Prize for three consecutive years. Dr Shayan has received specialized plastic surgery training in Victoria, Australia, and was honored with the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons Examination Prize for an Essay in Fat Grafting. His passion for his field and extraordinary achievements make him a sought-after surgeon among his patients and peers.
