Prof Christopher Coombs

Professor Christopher Coombs is a renowned Medical Director and Chief Plastic Surgeon at Southern Plastic Surgery. He graduated with Honours from Monash University and then received specialised training in aesthetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery in Melbourne. After completing his postgraduate studies, he further honed his skills at Harvard University in Paediatric hand and microsurgery. Professor Coombs has diverse interests in plastic surgery, such as Paediatric plastic surgery, Reconstructive Plastic surgery including breast reconstruction and skin cancer and cosmetic surgery, including Intense Pulsed Light Therapy and general Reconstructive Plastic surgery. He also has keen interests in areas such as hand surgery, facial palsy, and ear reconstruction.

Professor Coombs has a notable reputation for Paediatric plastic surgery and is currently the Director of the Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. He also serves as an examiner in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. In the past, he has held high-ranking positions such as Chairman of the Victorian Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Deputy Chairman Australasian Board of Plastic Surgery, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

His other areas of expertise include simple and complex hand surgery, such as endoscopic carpal tunnel release and removal of skin cancers, and his cosmetic practice includes breast reduction/augmentation, abdominoplasty, rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation.
