Dr Ryan De Freitas

Meet Dr Ryan De Freitas, an ENT Surgeon with extensive experience in Head and Neck Surgery. Originally from Hobart, Ryan graduated with honours from the University of Tasmania in 2002 and later completed his basic surgical training in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he also gained Membership to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. After returning to Melbourne in 2009 for ENT Registrar training, he undertook two separate fellowships overseas, including one at Beaumont Hospital Dublin, where he served as the ENT Head and Neck Fellow and Clinical Lecturer in ENT at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, and another in Head and Neck Surgery at St George’s University Hospital London.

Throughout his career, Ryan has exhibited a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care, education, and research. He has lectured extensively and published numerous scientific papers in the field of ENT. He also has a passion for training and mentoring junior doctors. Among his specializations are Head, Neck, and Thyroid Surgery, as well as minimally invasive nose and sinus surgery. Ryan welcomes GP referrals for the management of all general adult and paediatric ENT conditions, and he has treated a wide array of cases, including many instances of surfer’s ears in members of the local population during his time on the Gold Coast.
