Prof Craig Waller is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee procedures. He practices in Macquarie University, Sydney. Prof Waller holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (with Honors) from the University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons since 1988, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh since 1989, and the Australian Orthopaedic Association since 1992. In addition, Prof Waller is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Head of the Department of Sports Medicine at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Macquarie University since 2007. He also has a Certificate in Medical Education from Macquarie University, obtained in 2008.
Prof Waller has a special interest in hip procedures, including Arthroscopy of the Hip, Labral Tears & FAI Gluteus Medius Tears, Trochanteric Bursitis, Hip Replacement Surgery, Anterior Approach hip replacement, and Dual Mobility Hip Replacement. He also performs knee procedures such as Arthroscopy of the Knee, Meniscus Tears, Cartilage Wear, ACL Reconstruction, Knee Joint Replacement, and Osteoarthritis treatment.
Prof Waller has received numerous awards throughout his career. As an undergraduate, he was awarded the Wallace Wurth Prize for General Proficiency throughout the Medical Course, the Staff Association Prize for General Proficiency in the Clinical Years, the Graduate Prize in Surgery, the Gilbert Ashby Memorial Prize, the C.V. Salisbury Memorial Prize, the A.C. Thomas Memorial Prize, the H.B. and R.L. Melville Prize, and the Keith Harrison Memorial Prize for Proficiency in Medicine. He was also honored with the UNSW University Medal. In his postgraduate studies, Prof Waller was selected as the Zimmer Overseas Travelling Fellow in 1987.
