Dr Simon Chan

Dr. Simon Chan is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand surgery. He obtained his medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery, from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 1994. Dr. Chan's passion for hand surgery led him to pursue further subspecialty training in world-renowned units at the University of Hong Kong and the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby, UK.

Dr. Chan's expertise lies in the treatment of adult patients with various hand surgical conditions. His special interests include carpal injuries, complex wrist fractures, finger joint replacements, and minimally invasive procedures such as endoscopic carpal tunnel decompression and wrist arthroscopy.

Currently, Dr. Chan holds a public hospital appointment at Westmead Hospital, where he is the only surgeon whose practice is confined solely to the hand and wrist. He is also one of two surgeons responsible for managing carpal injuries at Westmead Hospital.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Chan is actively involved in training students, junior doctors, and other surgeons. He has served as the honorary secretary of the NSW Hand Surgery Association and is a moderator for the internet discussion group "Hand Surgery International".
