Associate Professor Michael (Mike) Wilson is a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon with extensive experience in heart and lung surgeries. Dr Wilson completed his medical degree from Sydney University in 1984, following which he pursued his specialization in General and Cardiothoracic Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He then travelled overseas to augment his knowledge and skills by completing a Fellowship in Transplantation Surgery from Stanford University Hospital and a Cardiac Surgery Fellowship from Toronto General Hospital. Dr Wilson has a broad spectrum of interests in cardiothoracic surgery, ranging from repairing heart failures requiring SVR MV repair CAGS and CRT therapies for ischaemic heart diseases to effectively addressing aortic and valvular heart diseases via transcatheter aortic valves and minimally invasive mitral surgery. He has been on the forefront of mechanical assist devices and has extensive experience in thoracic surgery, with notable contributions in thoracic oncology. With over three decades of experience, Dr Wilson has established himself as a prominent figure in the medical profession. He has numerous publications to his credit and has trained several upcoming cardiothoracic surgeons. He is associated with leading hospitals across Australia, serving as a consultant in cardiothoracic surgery. His expertise, research, and commitment to his patients have earned him immense respect in the medical fraternity.
